Download the Google Street View App and view through Cardboard VR and enjoy the tour as if your presence is at the museum. (This virtual reality tour has no subtitles)

Why are some parts of the image blurry?
Some parts of the collection in the museum are still within the copyright protection period, hence the images are not able to publicize on the internet.
Publicized Google Street View does not mean the museum is opened for photography in the permanent exhibition galleries.
The reason for CHIMEI Museum to restrain people from taking photographs inside the permanent exhibition gallery is to maintain quality touring experiences and safety to all visitors. Many items on display are not covered with protective glasses in order to bring closeness to the public. It is the management team’s responsibility to prevent injuries of the visitors and damages to the collections. The Google Street View Service allows visitors to enjoy free visual tours of the CHIMEI Museum any time of the day at your convenience and in efforts to fulfill those who wish to take photographs inside the museum.

The Angel of Glory is an imitating work of French sculptor Louis Ernest BARRIAS (1841-1905),
An Allegory of Fame, by Founder Wen-Long Shi.
The founder of this award, Chairman Wen-Long Shi, hopes the event will continue passing the torch to the next generations, allowing CHIMEI to be the driving force in the promotion of art in Taiwan. With the help of the CHIMEI Arts Award, these Taiwanese young artists can reduce the pressure of economic burden and devote their time and efforts into creation, and be the spreading seeds that bring art into people's lives.
Each year, the event invites experts from the academic fields, senior artists and musicians from the industries, to jointly select the ones that are the promising future stars.
Past winners often express their gratitude to the CHIMEI Culture Foundation for the prize that had greatly helped and encouraged their creative careers. Each art prize winner will have a piece of their entry artwork chosen by CHIMEI Museum as its permanent collection; and the winners of the music prize will have the opportunity to perform at the CHIMEI Hall.

“My museum serves only one purpose : to exist for the public.”
─ CHIMEI Group Founder Wen-Long Shi
Founder of the CHIMEI Group, Mr. Wen-Long Shi, was very fond of his childhood visits to a local museum that he was inspired to build a museum for everyone to enjoy. The museum was first established and housed in the administration building of the CHIMEI Corporation in 1992, relocated to the Tainan Metropolitan Park in 2014, and reopened in 2015. The museum is here so that people of all ages and social backgrounds can have easy access to Western culture and arts without having to travel abroad.
The collection at CHIMEI Museum consists mainly of Western art, musical instruments, arms and armour, animal taxidermy and fossils, exhibiting approximately 4000 items, which is about one-third of the complete CHIMEI collection. Founder Shi expressed that, “Good works of art are not to be kept just for oneself to enjoy, but to be shared with the public; and a good collection should not reflect just the collector’s personal tastes, but to tailor to common tastes and have enough varieties for everyone to find something to enjoy and appreciate.”
